最近在校的一本Adele Parks的作品《Larger Than Life》，讓我從頭到尾哭得稀瀝澕啦的，下班回家的路上也差點控制不住情緒，在公車上險險落下淚來。

我已經快要忘了多久沒有這樣的感覺了，校稿校得欲罷不能，恨不得熬夜一口氣把整本書看完的，那種感覺。（上一次這樣大概是Jennifer Weiner的《Good In Bed》，她的後三本沒讓我這麼熱血沸騰並不是因為不好看，而是譯得很……）甚至原諒了譯者的拖稿和前1/3內容的不太通順。

我的感動和激動，主要是因為和女主角心靈上的共鳴，當然，我指的不是當情婦和懷孕那部份，而是在這十四年來為了愛而不顧一切，眼裡除了對方完全看不到別的東西，不管是自己想要什麼、或是那男的其實有多糟，完全看不見。還有就是那份孤寂，男友的不再關注、朋友因為生活圈不同了而疏離、同事也漸漸地只剩表面上的情誼……。這種漸漸孤寂的感受，讓我的心糾結了起來，我猜這也是我最近文字老是那麼灰暗的主因，因為我－－套句書裡的話－－「張開了眼睛」。因為我看見了那情況，因為我看見了自己的不值，因為我看見了那無法忍受的孤單。

這幾天腦子總是浮起之前某譯者說的話，因為譯了我們的某本書後，讓她審思了自己的人生，於是毅然決然辭職了。我想，我現在的心情很接近她。

Larger than life，到底是怎麼樣解釋，我不知道，但我在閱讀的過程中，似乎一點一點地體會出了。

昨天，正好這本書的譯者打來，我也問了她書名的意見，她說larger than life其實是指不要拘泥在某個層次中。然後我又在網路上找了很久，用的人很多，但真的解釋的人非常非常少。有說是「『比實物還大』的意思」，有說是「有傳奇色彩的超出平凡的意思，被誇張了的通常拿來形容英雄類的人物」。我覺得沒有Get到那意義。。Answer.com上則是有「Very impressive or imposing」的意思，也有「large as life：Also, larger than life. See big as life」。咳，所以，我又查了一下Big as life，看到一句「A similar addition is and twice as natural」，沒錯，其實，感覺上比較像是這個意思。

不過，即使知道意思，也不等於就想得出書名，唉。而且，最近像走火入魔似的，開口閉口都舉書中的片段和對話當例子，很嚴重。沒辦法，我真的太喜歡這本書了嘛。
